Collaborating with Comments and Activity Logs

Comments and the activity log let your team collaborate right where the documents live.

Written by Andrew Flowers

Overview

Comments and the activity log let your team collaborate right where the documents live. Instead of long email threads about a file, you can leave a note directly on the folder or file — and the activity log shows what changed, who changed it, and when. Everyone gets context without meetings or message-hunting.

This works on both folders and files throughout the Files area in Stax.ai CX.

Why it helps

  • Conversations stay attached to the work. A question about a census file lives on that file, not buried in someone's inbox.

  • Clear accountability. The activity log shows exactly what happened and who did it.

  • Faster catch-up. A teammate returning from vacation can read the comments and log instead of scheduling a call.

  • Less channel-hopping. Fewer "quick question about that file" emails and chats.

How to comment and review activity

  1. Open Files and select the folder or file you want to review.

  2. Add a comment to share an update, ask a question, or note next steps. The comment appears with your name, visible to your team.

  3. Open the Activity log for that location to review recent changes.

  4. Look for key details — who made each update and when it happened.

  5. Use comments and activity together: the log tells you what changed, and comments tell you why.

Tips

Tip: When you upload a new version of a document, leave a comment saying what changed. The activity log records the upload; your comment adds the context.

Tip: Use comments for decisions ("Approved — send to client") so the record lives with the file, not in a chat thread nobody can find later.
