Overview
The Files area in Stax.ai CX is where your team keeps important documents in one place. It works like a familiar file explorer — folders, files, double-click to open — so finding what you need doesn't mean learning a new system. This article covers getting to Files and keeping it organized: creating folders, renaming items, and putting documents where they belong.
A tidy file structure pays off daily. New team members find things faster, and everyone works from the latest version.
Navigating to Files
In the left-side navigation menu, click Files. The main file browser opens, showing your folders and files.
Double-click a folder to open it and view its contents.
Keep clicking through folders to move deeper into your document structure.
Use Files as your starting point for uploads, organization, and collaboration — everything document-related begins here.
Creating and organizing folders
Open Files from the left menu.
Navigate to the location where the new folder belongs.
Use the menu on the right to create a new folder.
Give the folder a clear, consistent name. The folder appears in the list.
Tip: Building the same folder structure for every client? Don't do it by hand — set up a template so CX builds it for you.
Renaming folders and files
Select the folder or file you want to rename.
Use the folder and file options in the right-side menu to rename it.
Confirm the new name appears in the list.
Uploading files into the right place
Double-click to open the folder where the file belongs.
Drag and drop files into the folder window, or click the upload button in the top-right area and choose your files.
After the upload finishes, confirm the file appears in the folder list.
Best practices
Name folders consistently. Pick a convention (for example, by year or by document type) and stick with it across all clients.
Put files in folders, not at the top level. A file dropped in the root is a file someone will lose.
Rename files to something meaningful. "Scan_0043.pdf" helps no one; "2026 Census - ABC Company.pdf" helps everyone.
Use templates for client folders. Consistent structure across clients means anyone on your team can find anything, for any client.
