Managing large groups of contacts one by one can be time-consuming. With Bulk Actions, you can update many contacts at once—saving time and ensuring consistency. Think of it like editing a whole spreadsheet column instead of updating each row individually. Whether you need to add tags, update data, or associate contacts with companies and plans, bulk editing makes it simple and efficient.
Key Benefits:
Save time: Update dozens or even hundreds of contacts in a single action.
Stay consistent: Ensure the same changes apply across all selected contacts without missing anyone.
More control: Add tags, remove tags, update data fields, or associate contacts with companies, plans, or deals.
Reduce mistakes: Avoid the risk of forgetting to apply changes by handling everything in one step.
How To:
Open Bulk Actions
Go to the People section in your left-hand menu.
In the top-right corner, click More and then choose Bulk Actions from the dropdown.
(See screenshot below – the Bulk Actions option is under the More button.)
Select Contacts
A list of contacts will appear.
Use the checkboxes to select the contacts you want to edit.
You can select all contacts at once or choose specific ones.
(In the screenshot, you see 0 of 120 selected, but once you check the boxes, the count will update.)
Open the Bulk Edit Window
Once you’ve selected your contacts, go back to the More menu and click Bulk Edit.
A pop-up window (modal) will open, allowing you to choose what changes to apply.
Choose What to Modify
In the Attribute / Modification dropdown, you’ll see options:
Add Tag – Add labels to group or organize contacts (e.g., “Priority”).
(Example: In the screenshot below, “Priority” has been added as a tag.)
Remove Tag – Remove existing labels from the contacts.
Data Fields – Update specific data fields you've created with one value for all selected contacts.
Add Association – Connect contacts to a company, plan, or deal.
When adding to a Company, no role is required.
When adding to a Plan or Deal, you must assign a Role (e.g., Accountant, Trustee, Primary Contact).
You can also define the Type of contact:
Contact – A regular contact record.
External – An outside collaborator (e.g., advisor, CPA).
Confirm and Execute
After choosing your modifications, enter the values (such as tag name or data value).
Click Execute or Add Associations to apply the changes to all selected contacts.
You’ll see the updates reflected immediately in your contact list.
