Overview:

Custom data fields can be used to create groups of information you want to collect, track, and report on, for specific record types (contacts, companies, plans, deals, etc).

Custom data fields can be a variety of types and have the flexibility to be created and structured in a way that works best for you. Groups of custom data fields are called "data views".

Creating Data Field Sets:

To begin, navigate to Library > Views. This page will show you all the templated data views created for your team.

You will be able to scroll through all created views on the left hand side. To create a new view select "New" on the top right corner. This will open a new view creation in the center of the page.

Enter a title for the view and hit enter on your keyboard - this will then create the view. The next step is to select a Resource Type. This will be where you can select the record type that the view will be shown on (plan, company, deal, contact).

For this example, let's select Contact. We'll then be able to create the specific fields, field types, and headers for how these will display on the contact page.

You'll have the option to create:

  1. Headers: This is designed for helping group specific sections of contact data fields.

  2. Subheadings: This is designed for subheading text in certain sections, for further granularity.

  3. Fields: Selecting field will give you the option to create a field. You can name the field, and set the type of input that is required. You can change the input at any time by right clicking the field after it's created.

After completing the creation of your view, if you'd like this view to be shown on a record by default, you can select Use as default view on the right hand side.

Now when you view a contact (in this example), when you select the data tab, you'll see the default view selected and all included fields will be visible. Below the view, you'll also have the option to add specific fields for this specific contact, that won't be carried across to others.
