Step 1: Go to the Participants Tab
From the left-hand menu, click Participants. This tab shows you census and payroll information across all your clients. In this view, each row represents a client or plan, and you'll see key details like census status and payroll connection state.
Understanding Payroll Connection Status
On the far-right of the Participants table, look for the Payroll Provider column. This tells you the current status of each client's payroll integration:
Active – Payroll data is being actively synced into Stax CX.
Waiting Client – The client still needs to complete their connection.
Waiting Mapping – Stax’s team is in the process of mapping their payroll data.
Imported Census – Payroll data has been uploaded manually.
This column provides a quick overview so you can see which clients are ready to go and which still need action.
Viewing a Client’s Payroll Details
To view payroll files for a specific client:
From the Participants tab, right-click on the client’s row.
Select View Payroll Data.
You’ll be taken to that client’s dedicated payroll page, which shows a list of all historical pay files that have been synced or imported.
Each file includes:
Check Date
Pay Period Start and End
Sync method and timestamp (e.g., imported, API synced)
Number of employees and total gross compensation
This gives you a detailed history of all pay data received — even if the client switched payroll providers.
Exporting Payroll Data
You can export payroll files to Excel from any payroll page:
Click the More button (⋯) in the top-right corner.
Select Export Payroll Data.
Choose your preferred date range and export type:
By Check Date or By Pay Period
Click Download to generate your export.
CX will compile all relevant pay files within that range into an Excel report for easy analysis or recordkeeping.
